New Court Jurisdictions for the District Court and Circuit Court.
With effect from the 3rd February 2014 the monetary jurisdiction limits of the District and Circuit Court have been increased.
Circuit Court
The monetary jurisdiction the Circuit Court has been increased as and from the 3rd February 2014 and from that date shall be as follows:
Civil cases
€15,001 to €75,000
Personal injuries cases
€15,001 to €60,000
District Court
The monetary jurisdiction limits of the District has been increased as and from the 3rd February 2014 and from that date shall be as follows:
Civil and personal injuries cases
€0 to €15,000
This change has been implemented by virtue of the Courts and Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2013 (Jurisdiction of District and Circuit Court)(Commencement) Order 2013 which was signed by the Minister in December 2013 so activating Section 2(1) and Part 3 of the Courts and Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2013.
